L Lynch ROCKHIT Review
April 9, 2020The new breaker incorporates a totally different mechanism to generate the energy and break up material. The effect of this highly innovative mechanism enables around 3.5 times more energy to be developed with a slower blow frequency but with much more energy applied to the material. The Rockhit delivers a much more tolerable and less annoying sound compared with conventional hydraulic breakers without compromising on productivity. Importantly, the high energy to weight ratio also enables the breaker to be used on smaller excavators offering both cost and fuel savings to our customers.
Required to work on a Highways England project R&W M23 Junction 8/10
At 90 bpm, the lower frequency of blows has resulted in noise levels that are more tolerable and less annoying compared to a high frequency breaker. Maximum exposure times are significantly improved, enabling 20 hours exposure at 10 metres in comparison to 4 hours with a competitor breaker.
The ROCKHIT only operates when load is applied to the tool, significantly reducing the risk of blank fire.
An effective shock absorption system is in place using a series of rubber buffers to reduce damage to the carrier and the impact of vibration on the operator. The system has proven effective in trials with very low levels of shock loads measured both on the equipment, excavator and operator
The key differentiator to other breakers on the market is the exceptional breaking power through high-impact-low frequency operation, made possible by a patent protected design. The next generation solution is an innovation from the traditional piston mechanism.
Designed for carriers between 13-18 tonne; traditionally to deliver this amount of energy in a breaker, a carrier of at least 30 T would be required. Smart engineering design has meant that the size and weight of the breaker has not been increased to enable the high output energy.
We estimate the breaker requires half the fuel of a traditional breaker in operation.
Over a year we estimate this could give a reduction of 13 tonnes of CO2 emissions.
Optional water sprays to reduce dust, reducing negative environmental impact.
Technically advanced component parts mean the breaker does not require greasing.
Helping the customer to reduce down time and maintenance.
An excellent peace of kit with low noise and high impact. Ideally Websters would expand the product to be suitable for a range of excavators.
