Blast Furnace Wrecking
Runtech Ltd have used a D-10 Rockwheel mounted on a Brokk 400 carrier as an alternative method of ‘wrecking’ the Troughs (Runners) and the tilters at one of Tata steels Port Talbot blast furnaces. The D-10 Rockwheel offers an alternative method for profiling the monolithic lining which is usually carried out using a hydraulic breaker. The Rockwheel was shown to profile the surface of the lining without damaging the underlying material, the use of the hydraulic breaker can result in cracks propagating into the lining. Due to the nature of the application the monolithic lining is an expensive product, the client was impressed at the savings he would make with the Rockwheel.
